Movies I am waiting for

Sawaal ye nahi ki which are the ones to watch? Sawaal ye hai ki which are the ones to watch in the theater......

Anjaana Anjaani: Looks like a fresh rip off of some 2million boy-meets-girl-fights-become friends-some gags-part-discover they love each other-go looking-meet-propose in airport/railway platform/stadium - live happily ever after kinda story. So naya kya hoga? Its gonna be "different" because RK and PC havent been paired earlier/never been directed by this guy - treatment and gags are new(a couple of them).....But what the heck, worth a watch in theater, hopefully.

Wall Street 2: This one looks interesting. Shia is the latest fad in Hollywood and watching Michael Douglas revive Gordon Gekko after so many years will be fun, if not a bit of a comparision exercise with all critics lauding his role in earlier one and the newer one making more money.

Robot: I am gonna wait and wait till I can get a CD of this one. South movie making sensibilities are not for me. Kahi bhi gaana, kahi bhi comedy and wo comedy aisi ki you cant laugh at it. Whatever the review is, not worth my money in theater.

Akrosh:  Now this one looks interesting. Something very close to current events. And to top it all, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Khanna in it. Kumar Mangat has given some good movies, and the trailors look good, aggresive, sharp and loads of action. Have not yet been able to decide on weather to see it on screen or at home. Will wait for some friends to see and then go.

Movie Review: Dabangg

For so many years I was looking forward to who would replay Rajnikant in Bollywood. Well........just found out that its gonna be Salman Khan.
Whatt a movie yaar, ekdum masssssssst. Full time pass, full paisa vasool. After a long long time, multiplex ka popcorn and samosa was worth it( waise, its still too damn costly). Though I wish there was a bit more of the goggle ki style and tashan, then to paisa interest ke saath vasool hota bhai.

Chopras wasted a title like Tashan in a crap of a movie. This one should have been named tashan for all its fun, masti and on your face chichorapan.

Story to kya hai, waise karni bhi kya hai. I went to see Sallu or shall I say Chulbul and thank god for the director that there was enough of him to satiate all moods. Sonakshi Sinha was HOT! Man she looks a dream and those eyes will kill you even before that smile does. Aj se I have a crush on her, bye Kat and bye kareena.....nahi, not bye kareena...

So dont read too much, ticket lo and watch it, better on screen than on PC or pirated DVD.

Movie Review: Peepli (Live)

After the relentless advertising and promotions all over the media, why do we go to see the movies? To find what happens in the end, or to see if there is anything more than whats revealed in the promos?

As for the movie, it has all that you expected it to have. Its a satire on media, on the uselessness of babus in the ministry, on the heartlessness of politicians ans maybe on each and every one of us who take this in our stride and laugh it off, saying "koi aur hai isko theek karne ke liye".

The movie is damn good, the pace racy, the language very real, the situations very normal and its funny, while it tries to mock the "angrezi channel  vs "hindi channel rivalry. Anyone who watched tv in the run up a month before the movie release will have a clear picture of what the movie is all about, in fact, there's nothing much left to see in the movie as we have seen it all in the promos. This takes out most of the fun when watching it on screen, again paying 200 for a ticket, 110 for popcorn and pepsi.......Thank god it wasn't a murder mystery.

So what happens to Natha? Thats the only thing you go to the movie for, to see what happened to Natha in the end. Was it worth going to the multiplex to see just that? Not really. Wait a month and it will be airing on some channel or other. Had the promos left something to imagination, its a movie worth a watch in theatres.

This one looks like an entry onto the oscars this year. Foreigners love to see the poverty, "daliddar", dirt, shit, everything bad and ugly about so so it makes them feel good about themselves. So yes, it deserves to be there in oscars.

Watch it.

Movie Review: We are a family

By the time I got out of the movie, I had forgotten its name......In fact, I was almost forgetting my name too! As expected, the movie was full of cliches. Anyone who has seen a bit of Ekta Kapoor serials can and will say the dialogues before the actors do.

The movie should have been called deja vu, all dialogues, story, situations seem so repeated, so seen before.......

Everyone knows the story: AR is divorced, has a girlfriend KK, 3 kids and an ex wife KD. The girlfriend keeps crying and playing the martyr, the kids work hard at making it easier for her to do it, their mom only fights, and dad cant get a hold of whats going on around him. Waise to even the director cant, but thats  another story.

In the middle of all this, mom has cancer and has a change of heart( for a short time). She wants kids to get to know girlfriend so she in turn can die a martyr and girlfriend become mom( yikes............!!!!!). Suddenly you see mom, girlfriend, kids, dad all living together in same house. Atleast they should have shown if the girlfriend stays with dad or sleeps alone...... Bechara dad is still clueless, cant act to save his life, cant even ham like mom if he cant act( Ok, critics call it understated, controlled acting, I call it NO ability). Still, the fights go on....and I went out to make and take calls. Paisa kharcha hai, will leave only when it finishes.

By the time I return, mom is dead, movie ended and I am thankful.

Dont waste your time to see it, and even if you do, dont eat anything inside. The samosas taste too stale, the pepsi seems flat, life is dull.......did I say it earlier too????

Deja Vu.
Starcast:

AR: Arjun Rampal. aka dad. Cant act, seems clueless throughout, wish I had friends like him who would put crores of rupees to make him seem an actor
KK: Kareena Kapoor: aka giorlfriend. Gorgeous. The only bright spark in the movie is when she smiles.
KD: Kajol. aka mom: Wish she wouldnt ham so much. Wish I had a volume control whenever she came on screen........
Kids: Kids aka kids........Wish story writers and directors would get out of old caricatures of kids and copy some new types from somewhere. You can close your eyes and not go to the movie and know their dialogue, reactions, actions........Spare me.
